Definitions & Explanations:

AgriTrust Peer Node

On the AgriTrust blockchain network, a peer node allows an Industry or Enterprise to connect to the AgriTrust network and participate in the validation and verification of transactions. The node forms part of the ecosystem and can send and receive information from other industry nodes, and can also store a copy of the entire blockchain ledger. The AgriTrust Peer Nodes communicate with each other to achieve consensus on the state of the blockchain, ensuring that all transactions are valid and consistent across the network. Each peer node has equal status and functionality in the network, and they work together to maintain the security and integrity of the AgriTrust blockchain.

It is proposed that Primary Producers or SME Businesses will form part of Enterprises or Industry Peer Nodes.

Industry Membership Node

Every industry or enterprise individual member should get an Industry Membership Node. The Industry Membership Node is a high-performance node that provides a reliable messaging infrastructure for efficient and secure data exchange between participants on the AgriTrust blockchain network.

It offers several features including

  • message broadcast and delivery confirmation,
  • message filtering,
  • topic-based subscriptions, and
  • message encryption.

The Industry Membership Node is designed to be scalable and supports multiple consensus algorithms, including:

  • Proof-of-Authority (PoA) and
  • Proof-of-Work (PoW).

It also provides APIs for easy integration with other blockchain platforms and enterprise systems.

Overall, the Industry Membership Node is a key component in building secure, scalable, and decentralised blockchain solutions.

Organisational Certificate Authorities

An Organisational Certificate Authority (OrgCA) is part of the AgriTrust Peer Node solution and is responsible for issuing and managing digital certificates that verify the identity of organisations or entities participating in AgriTrust blockchain network. These certificates are used to establish trust between different nodes in the network and to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data being transmitted. The OrgCA typically manages the entire lifecycle of digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, and revocation, and is responsible for ensuring that only authorised entities are granted access to the network.

Storage (per 10GB / month)

Storage refers to the digital space allocated on a node to store data related to transactions and smart contracts. Each node on the AgriTrust network maintains a copy of all transactions and smart contracts. This ledger is updated continuously as new transactions are added to the AgriTrust blockchain. The storage on a blockchain node is used to keep track of this data, and it enables nodes to verify the authenticity of transactions and smart contracts. Additionally, the storage on a blockchain node can be used to store other types of data, such as private keys, user identities, and access control policies.

Identity Channel (per Channel/month)
An Industry Membership Node needs to connect to an Identity Channel. An identity channel is a secure and private communication channel between two or more parties in the network. It enables the parties to interact with each other on the AgriTrust blockchain network and share data securely and authentically.

The identity channel on AgriTrust is based on public-private key encryption, which means that each user has a unique private key used to encrypt their messages and a corresponding public key used to decrypt them. This ensures that only the intended recipient can access the information.

Identity channels also support the use of smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement between buyer and seller being directly written into lines of code. Smart contracts allow parties to execute predefined actions based on certain conditions, and ensure that all parties adhere to the agreed-upon terms of the transaction.
